About our client:

Our client is a growing renewable energy and decarbonisation company delivering innovative energy solutions and large-scale infrastructure projects across Ireland.

As the company continues to expand its solar project portfolio, our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join the team and take responsibility for the successful delivery of solar projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover.

The Role

The Project Manager will have overall responsibility for managing the delivery of solar projects across the South of Ireland, ensuring projects are completed safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Working closely with internal teams, clients, consultants, contractors, grid stakeholders and other project partners, the Project Manager will coordinate all aspects of project delivery and ensure effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.

This is a key position within the project delivery team and would suit an experienced construction or renewable energy professional with strong project management experience and a good understanding of solar infrastructure.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of assigned solar projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover.
  • Develop and manage detailed project programmes, budgets and delivery plans.
  • Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers and internal project teams.
  • Manage project activities across civil, electrical, mechanical and renewable energy scopes.
  • Monitor project progress against programme, budget and key milestones.
  • Identify and manage project risks, issues, dependencies and opportunities.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with agreed specifications, drawings, contracts and quality standards.
  • Manage the procurement and coordination of materials, equipment and specialist subcontractors.
  • Work closely with engineering and design teams to ensure designs are coordinated and deliverable.
  • Coordinate with grid connection, planning and other project stakeholders where required.
  • Manage client and stakeholder relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Chair and attend regular project meetings and provide clear project updates to senior management and clients.
  • Review contractor performance and ensure agreed deliverables and milestones are achieved.
  • Manage project variations, commercial issues and change control in conjunction with the commercial team.
  • Ensure appropriate project documentation, reporting and records are maintained.
  • Work closely with the Health & Safety team to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with Irish legislation and company requirements.
  • Ensure quality assurance and quality control processes are implemented throughout project delivery.
  • Coordinate commissioning, testing, snagging and final handover of completed projects.
  • Support the continuous improvement of project delivery processes and procedures.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years' experience in project management within construction, engineering, renewable energy or a related sector.
  • Proven experience delivering construction or infrastructure projects from commencement through to completion.
  • Experience working on solar PV projects would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of construction, civil and electrical project delivery.
  • Experience managing contractors, subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project budgets, contracts and change management.
  • Excellent programme and project planning skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects within challenging programmes.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements within the Irish construction industry.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Full Irish/EU driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites across Ireland.

Desirable

  • Experience delivering utility-scale or commercial solar PV projects.
  • Experience working within the renewable energy sector.
  • Knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, MV/HV electrical infrastructure and associated balance-of-plant works.
  • Experience with grid connection projects and ESB Networks/EirGrid processes.
  • Relevant third-level qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline.
  • Relevant project management qualification such as PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent.
  • Safe Pass and relevant construction-related certifications.
